Your learning map
A rack is a team of small jobs.
You do not need to memorize every module. Learn the signal path: something creates a sound, control signals make it move, and utilities shape, route, or combine it.
Control voltage is invisible movement. It turns knobs for you—changing pitch, tone, volume, and more.
On/off pulses and steady timing signals tell events when to happen.

Suggested modules
Each card starts with the job the module performs. A balanced first rack needs jobs covered—not the largest possible number of exciting sound sources.

Check the rack before you buy.
HP and current figures are planning estimates. Confirm every specification with the manufacturer before ordering or connecting power.
Patch lesson 01
Your first sound, one cable at a time
Start safely: turn monitoring down before patching. Eurorack audio can be much hotter than line-level studio gear.
Before you buy
The modules are not the whole instrument.
Beginner glossary
- HP
- The width a module takes in a Eurorack case.
- VCO / voice
- The source that creates an electrical audio signal.
- VCA
- A voltage-controlled level control—essential for shaping volume and modulation.
- Envelope
- A one-time movement shape, often used to make a note open and close.
- LFO
- A repeating slow movement used to animate another parameter.
- Attenuation
- Reducing the strength of audio or CV so modulation stays musical.
These recommendations mix planned new modules with Rack & Wave’s current used inventory. Planned products are labeled Coming soon and remain unavailable until manufacturer inventory arrives; used products remain out of stock while inspection and final pricing are completed.
